There was, of course, no explanation and no sensible rationale for the action and no public notification. Feels a little like East Germany or something. Kind of funny, though, how one can be banned from a language invention forum for quoting someone else. Sadly, that's life in the modern language invention community! Could be. None of the moderators have told me anything. shrug Will have to see if I can contact someone. Martyr? That would fit. They've already said I've got a persecution complex. Not the mods! They've accused me of plenty, but not of that specifically. Two of my dear friends there laid that one on me. I'd be happy to share the Taxonomy at Conlang-L, though I'm certain your account is still viable. Were you ever active there? It always seemed to me Conlang-L would be the ideal place for you to talk about language invention. I always refer folks there when they seem to be interested in what I call deep talk. There, and to the LCS when I come across someone who seems like they've got a really interesting project that should be presented publicly. You know, things pertaining to the art of glossopoesy. I was active there from the end of 2002 until February 2003, so, not very long. I talked about some bits of Kankonian grammar and lexicon there. I think I may have discussed Hapoish, the nounless language of the Reds, as well. I may start up again, but it would be nice if you could discuss the Khemehekis Conlanger Taxonomy and possibly see if there are any types I've missed! I posted to CONLANG-L from my AOL account, which I haven't used in years; I'm not sure what the protocol would be for joining from a second account. Had a shufty over there today. The recent discussion leaves me educated as to the moderator/ownership's own toxicity. I asked them to quit. Hopefully someone will lock that thread.

But on happier notes -- I found that book in a local used book shop last Summer I believe and thought of you immediately! I'm glad you were pleased with my little surprise! I wondered how its obvious antiquity could be squared with the advanced technology that must allow for lifespeeding; but then I thought, that has to have gotten started sòmewhen, and surely there could have been a printed report or advertisement on the benefits of the practice. Perhaps for a less advanced society looking to get up to speed? Anyway, sadly, the project didn't come to anything until quite recently; but if I do say so, it came out well enough!

As for the Census, I consider that pretty much a dead letter. In any event, I should tell you I've often thought of just pasting a little counter in the Kankonian section that would add 20 or 25 each day (or maybe more, as the count seems to rise surprisingly quickly). I should think 100,000 would not be out of the realm of recent possibility! And that will be a red letter day indeed!

Questionnaire

Amazing job on the new questionnaire, and I say the same to all the others who've helped write it up. I am going to start filling it out, using what I wrote on Moonshine_Ethnographical_Questionnaire as the starting point, although given how long the new version is I expect I'll only answer just a small subset of the questions. I downloaded the HTML version before I saw the wiki version but I think I want to work with the HTML this time since it will be more convenient for me and because I'd have to do a lot of copypasting in either case. Okay, Moonshine is up.... I'm not completely finished but most of the unanswered questions are ones I either have no answer for or one that is plainly predictable from the answers to other questions. I will update that URL from time to time. I dont know about copying it to the wiki ... I can do it but the result will be a very long document and I don't think I can get it to be editable at the question level. Anyway, I enjoyed this, ... it was well worth the time I spent.
