Kankonian
Kankonian is a fictional language, spoken on the planet Kankonia in the solar system Venska in the Lehola Galaxy. Kankonian was invented by James Landau (Khemehekis) in the summer of 1996. In the summer of 2026, it will celebrate its thirtieth birthday.
The speakers of Kankonian are Kankonian humans, as well as extrakankonial humans and zhoars (i.e. all the nonhuman sapient species) who have immigrated or traveled to Kankonia and learned the language. Thanks to the Iteli, a phenomenon in the universe of the Lehola Galaxy whereby the same species can evolve independently on multiple planets, Kankonian humans are genetically compatible with Terran humans, although, having a head-start on us of about 10,000 years evolutionarily speaking, they have bigger foreheads than Terran humans.
Kankonian is most notable for having the most words in its dictionary of any constructed language -- artlang, auxlang, or engelang. As of the Conlang Adventure Zoom meetings on April 25-26, 2026, Kankonian had 121,720 words.
A Kankonian grammar of 166 pages as a Corel WordPerfect file was once available on Angelfire, but Angelfire died at the beginning of 2026, so Kankonian's grammar is no longer available online.
