marked for deletion

Why has this been marked for deletion? It is linked from on the Moj article. —Fenhl 02:08, 30 October 2012 (PDT)

I didn't mark it; the uploader has. I didn't remove the deletion tag because it was the originator's decision to mark it thus. If in your opinion the tag should be removed, I'll pull it. How do you propose we handle instances like this, where the uploader decides something should go, but the community wants it to stay?

By uploading, does something become public property? "Please note that all contributions to FrathWiki are considered to be released under the Creative Commons "by-sa" license (see FrathWiki:Copyrights for details)." That seems to say that it does.

"If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, then don't submit it here." And I suppose "at will" implies the public will.

For what it's worth, I actually skipped over this and other images last Flushing Day because I was wrestling with the same questions myself.-bornfor 14:06, 30 October 2012 (EDT)

The deletion reason is “redundant image, unnecessary”. I think what's going on is that this image was originally a duplicate of another image, which has now been removed (or at least I couldn't find it). This would make the deletion tag a mistake. In any case, the Moj article and related pages are some of the highest quality on this wiki, and it would be sad if the images went missing. So I propose that we keep this image anyway (and the license certainly allows us to do so). —Fenhl 11:41, 30 October 2012 (PDT)

Sounds good to me! Pulling the tag. -bornfor 14:50, 30 October 2012 (EDT)

Matter of case sensitivity. This image is File:Mogua1.png (history), but the image on the Moj page is actually File:Mogua1.PNG (history). —Muke Tever | 09:31, 3 November 2012 (PDT)

Oh, I see. That means there ARE two of them...? I looked at the file list and I was pretty sure I saw two of them, but wasn't sure as the only difference was with capitalization. I know the wiki is sensitive to capital and lowercase letters. Does this mean I should mark this one for deletion once more, or? - —bornfor 13:06, 3 November 2012 (EDT)

Yeah, the filenames are case-sensitive (File:Mogua1.Png doesn't exist, for example). And yeah, I think the trifecta of duplicate + not linked + author request is certainly enough to put it back up for deletion. —Muke Tever | 18:34, 4 November 2012 (PST)
