Codex Seraphinianus

The Codex Seraphinianus is a book, originally published in 1981, by the Italian artist Luigi Serafini. The book is written in an unknown script and contains illustrations which, however, are themselves so bizarre and mysterious that they are not helpful in understanding the book.

Structure

The Codex Seraphinianus is similar in structure to the Voynich manuscript, which probably was Serafini's source of inspiration. The 360-page book appears to be an encyclopedia from an imagined world. According to the illustrations, the Codex consists of 11 chapters, each treating a different subject matter:
