As a fictional conlang, Basha Humrayan developed thousands of years ago in a region called the "Humrayavarta" which was the land located in between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. There, in the fabled Humrayavarta, there lived a big matriarchal tribe of all-female Amazons called the "Humraya." The Humraya speak a language which is a sister language of Sanskrit, closely related to it, but not the same. Much like how modern Spanish and modern Italian are sister languages that come from a common ancestor. The word "Humraya" comes from the Humrayan word "Humra," meaning "ant" [as in the insect] which is related to the Sanskrit word "Vamra" meaning the same.

The Humrayan language has its own alphabet consisting of 42 capital letters and 42 miniscule letters. The Humrayan alphabet tries to stay true to its fictional timeframe of development. And so, the capital case letters were developed from ancient alphabets which were in use at that time, such as ancient Egyptian Demotic, Phoenician, Brahmi, and Aramaic. Most of the Humrayan capital letters are derived from Demotic. The miniscule letters were further developments of the capital letters, where they take on a more rounded and feminine look and feel. The capital case letters are mostly sharp and angular, the easier to inscribe on stone tablets with. As with Sanskrit's eventual Devanagari script, the Humrayan alphabet uses a thread/bar to weave the letters together into separated/distinct words.

Beyond fiction, I use Humrayan as an autocryptolect, meaning a secret language which only I know and understand, for private and practical purposes. A sample of what Humrayan looks like, written in its own alphabetː
