Sevvufery-English Dictionary

From FrathWiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

This is a list of all currently existing Sevvuferyn words and their translations into English. PLEASE NOTE: Inflections/conjugations of words are NOT included in this list, aside from irregular exceptions. If you wish to see how to transform verbs and nouns according to Sevvuferyn grammar, see the complete guide to Sevvuferyn phonetics, morphology, and syntax.

Note that some words have meanings which are prescribed as archaic. All this means is that Sevvuferýkilý would treat such uses of the words in the same way as we treat the following sentence in English: "Thou shalt not murder". Grammatically this is not incorrect, but such a construction is now outdated to virtually all speakers. The same applies for archaic meanings of Sevvuferyn words.

Classifications of the part of speech of the word will be given after the English translation. Note that v1 refers to verbs of the first conjugation, v2 to verbs of the second conjugation, etc. Note the use of the following:

  • archaic – this word is no longer used by most of the Sevvuferykilý and using it in your speech will make you sound at least 151.7 years older
  • irr – irregular inflection
  • tr – transitive
  • intr – intransitive
  • prep – preposition
  • pron – pronoun
  • loc – locational/directional word
  • comp – words relating to the compass directions (north; south; east; west)
  • v.conj – conjugation/inflection of a word listed elsewhere
  • exc – exclamation/interjection (e.g yes/no)
  • link – linking words/conjunctions
  • num – number
  • n.num – noun which conjugates in the same way as numbers do
  • art – article
  • time – phrases to do with time
  • Q – introduces a question
  • Q.Y/N – introduces a yes/no question

(not all words currently have received this treatment)

As of now, the total number of words is 2547.

¹These words are plural in meaning, and thus only have a singular form. There is no plural for these words, as that would make no sense
²These words are plural in meaning, and already resemble a plural in their nominative form. Hence, they decline as plurals would, without having a singular form

⁴These verbs are part of the obscure 5th declension, reserved purely for deponent verbs for which the present infinitive usually ends in "-nåÿ" or, more rarely, "-kåÿ". They decline by changing their stem for different tenses, rather than changing their endings. Fortunately however, most of these verbs follow the example of the verb "menåÿ" (to admit), which lists out these conjugations. Another way to recognise these verbs is that they are the only ones to have "å" in their stem outside of the infinitive, as well as their infinitives all ending in "ÿ". There are a few verbs whose infinitive stems only end in "åÿ" or even just "ÿ", but they have been labeled as irregular verbs.
