Memü is one of the languages belonging to Piti language family. It belongs to the branch, named Twetako languages and it stems directly from Twetako language. It has an alphabetical script.
Typological structure
Memü is mostly a morphologically fusional language, with some additional but strongly marked agglutinative features.
The basic word order is essentially SVO (Subject-Verb-Object).
öɣ yr lyloħöh sɑh mjuɣ the person sees a cow
The entire system is set according to typological parameters of the head-modifier (or head-initial) type:
- verb - object
- preposition - noun
- noun - adjective
- noun - relative clause
One relevant feature of the evolution of Memü from Twetako is the complete loss of the case system (except, to a very limited extent, in the personal pronouns system).
