Written history
- The Limli do not keep written accounts of their history.
Time - Ki ya
- The Limli do not have a well-defined sense of time. Time does not 'come' and 'go'. It just is. This is reflected in the dearth of time words in their vocabulary, nothing more than "day before yesterday" (tońi ve tońitihi ae ) or "day after tomorrow" (fawi ve fawitihi ae).
- Other than these, only general terms are available, such as "gone days" (u ito tihi le) and "coming days" (yiawe tihi le).
Calendar
- The Limli do not have a complex system of time keeping. There are only four units of time.
- The day (tihi) begins at first light. There is a morning (yuili), a noon (fau tihi), and an evening (iyo). The night is called wohu. The planet's rotation gives a 28-hour day.
- The month (ńiyumi) is measured from the first sighting of the waxing crescent of the moon (ńiyumi).
- There are only two seasons on the islands, a wet season (fuńe) and a dry season (ńiwela).
- The year (filo) begins when the first rains begin to fall. It is 384 Litorian days in length.
- The closest thing to a week is the four phases (limeyu) of the moon.
The Lunar Cycle – Ńiyumi Yoihu ae
- The Limli have no concept of months. They know about the phases of the moon, but do not relate that to the solar year.
