The Pyrans live in small villages called dabôes. The individual family units may be related or not. Each dâbos is independent of others. A village council (dávmeðcântĭus) consisting of the heads of the households in the dâbos determines policy for the dâbos. The heads of households may be either male or female, although a female only qualifies if she is widowed.
Individual dabôes maintain contact with each other at the annual fairs.
