Under digraphs, it might be noted that in English we're not really marking "long vowels" so much diphthongs that are masquerading as long vowels. And even when the vowel is actually "long", there may not actually be a corresponding short vowel for the distinction to be made. I am also not quite sure what "magic e" is. I've never heard that term. Is it a real linguistics term? Whatever it might actually be called, I don't think it can be properly called a "digraph", since a digraph is composed of two contiguous letters: "ay", "oy", etc. Elemtilas (talk) 12:56, 11 November 2013 (PST)
