  • 1 The nasals are grouped together because only they can be found as syllable codas.
  • All the ogham letters have been reassigned to different phonemes, with the exception of <m>.
  • The upward strokes are assigned to the labial and dental phonemes.
  • The downward strokes are assigned to the alveolar, palatal and glottal phonemes.
  • The across strokes are assigned to the nasals.
  • The notches remain assigned to the vowels, but are rearranged.
